Cygnum
Observei a luz para ver como ela
fazia
beicinho de menino
contra a fervura do real.
Tinha mar
Tinha grilos
Tinha um beiço carnudo
como toda a luz que busca o poeta
no campanário:
sem os avós da criança
o baloiço não baloiça
sem a neve da criança
o baloiço não sobe ao Verão
Até a flor presa pelo caule
dá a bochecha
e como a bochecha é pequena
cabe no bico
e como bico se fecha:
a sombra
e como a sombra aponta
vai, com os cisnes do vento,
pelo lugar primeiro onde o ponteiro diz:
penúltima água.
Cygnum
I watched the light to see
it pout
a little boy's pout
against the seething of the real.
There was sea
There were crickets
There was a full lower lip
like every light the poet seeks
in the bell tower:
without the child's grandparents
the swing does not swing
without the child's snow
the swing does not rise into summer
Even the flower, held by its stem,
offers its cheek.
The cheek is small
so it fits within the beak
the beak closes,
so: shadow
the shadow points
so it goes, with the swans of the wind,
toward the first place
where the hand of the clock says:
penultimate water.
