habituei-me a ler-te o interior
como se fora um baloiço que oscila entre
as palavras grafadas com todas as letras e
a infância da língua com que me fazes adivinhar
as vogais e as consoantes que preencheriam os intervalos em falta
senão ficassem amarradas ao teu coração.


intimate spelling

I have grown accustomed to reading your innermost self
as if it were a swing that sways between
the words spelled out in full and
the childhood of the language with which you make me guess
the vowels and consonants that would fill the missing gaps
were they not tied to your heart.
