E que depositamos no fundo de jarros-esperança
Sementes-árvore. Segredo da Vida guardado numa caixa
Como raízes
Daqui onde se contempla a derradeira luz da nossa humanidade
Brilhando num pote de barro
A boiar
Mensagem que navega escrita por nascentes de água
Aviso meteorológico de um planeta
Desfeito
Em que todos seremos náufragos
Daqui onde se escutam chamadas
Desesperadas
Mayday, Mayday, Mayday
Palavras-código a ressoar
Que a catástrofe não precisa de tradução
Nem harpas, nem cordas, nem violinos
Nestes telhados
Nem festas de pôr-do-sol
Nem recitais de poesia
Ondas-música a bater no horizonte
Concerto sem batuta nem direcção
E em vez de gaivotas vêem-se rolas-do-mar
Como Maestrinas
Migrantes-mirantes que tentam regressar à pátria
Esquecida e esquecidos
Águias-pesqueiras a sobrevoar os céus
E Homens-peixe à deriva em barcos.

Eyes stretch like elastic bands
Beyond earthly orbits
Satellite-glasses finely tuned
From here, where figs, plums, and almonds dry
And where we place at the bottom of hope-jars
Tree-seeds. The Secret of Life kept in a box
Like roots
From here, where we behold the final light of our humanity
Shining in a clay pot
Floating
A message sailing, written by springs of water
A weather warning from a planet
Undone
Where we will all be castaways
From here, where desperate calls
Are heard
Mayday, Mayday, Mayday
Code-words echoing
That catastrophe needs no translation
No harps, no strings, no violins
On these rooftops
No sunset parties
No poetry recitals
Wave-music pounding at the horizon
A concert with no baton and no direction
And instead of gulls, one sees sea-doves
As Maestras
Migrants-watchers trying to return to the homeland
Forgotten and forgetting
Ospreys soaring across the skies
And Fish-men adrift in boats.
