brincos-de-princesa
princess earrings
love, whilst a serious matter, always has a touch of the childish about it.
ideed, it is these bridges to childhood that weave strands of magical days, which clothe love in a game of playing-seriously-playing. a make-believe that really counts.
much like the princess earrings I used to wear, which dangled from my ears and swayed with every movement of my head, and which I now recreate with the flowers you steal from gardens.

parecerem a mesma viagem
a carregar um deus distraído
e era difícil esquecer-me de ti
pelo voo do nós
imenso
estás, ficas, levas-me
comoves-me
plantares flores
i dress your skin and entered the sadness that came upon me suddenly
and recounted the silence you meant to express
not wanting
and it was easy to forget you
as your appearing and disappearing
seemed like the same journey
carrying a distracted god
and it was hard to forget you
because of the flight of the ‘we’
immense
hanging in the sky, slices of sun with poorly drawn little lines
like in the streets of childhood
you are here, you stay, you take me
you move me
by transcending the bounds of normality with which
you weave the difficult threads of life
in silence
as if it weren’t enough
to plant flowers

Clareza
Conforme a inclinação do sol.
Clarity
If I had to choose a color for your words, it would be gray.
Not because of the darkness of sadness. That darkness of yours is beautiful, you know?
It would be because of the calm. That’s it. Because of the calm you bring me on the shores of mornings or afternoons.
Depending on the sun’s angle.
Your words are only not white because I wouldn't discover them on this page.
But they are white, these embroideries of light that slip between your fingers.

todos os dias têm poesia
uma linha que seja
quando não a vejo
fecho os olhos
para sentir o vento a dançar
every day has poetry
even one line
when I don't see it
I close my eyes
to feel the wind dancing

no amor
in love
it’s not passion that wins out,
but rather what you gain from a slow, steady love that demands nothing of each other,
except honesty,
and in which you know you are, you stay, and you want to continue,
even if it’s just trying,
because it continues to enrich you.

Recados
E a lua?
Notes
You don’t need to replace the black crayon you used to lend me to paint the early mornings. I’m using gray and blue mixed with a touch of white. I tried it today. It’s turning out beautifully, and there’s still enough black left for my eyeliner.
But you can leave the black sheet, the one made of silk rippling like the sea. To fill with air, as if it were the breast of a proud, puffed-up dove, turning itself into sails of a boat speckled with sunlight. As for your yellow pencil, that one really does need replacing. Don’t let it run out on you in the spring. On your way, buy a bag of oranges to draw the sunset. Make sure they’re the plump ones. Bring the package with your brightest stars. And the moon? Think about what it will take to make the moon. Put away the umbrella and have the watering can ready.
Only one thing is missing: take my heart out of the barrel.

ortografia íntima
habituei-me a ler-te o interior
intimate spelling
I have grown accustomed to reading your innermost self
as if it were a swing that sways between
the words spelled out in full and
the childhood of the language with which you make me guess
the vowels and consonants that would fill the missing gaps
were they not tied to your heart.

na celebração do único
desenho-te a cartas de amor
unidas por algo belo
que sorvo em mesclas de contrastes
do sentir-te casa

that I sip in blends of contrasts

esta noite
desenhei a beijos contornos do divino
como quem dá vida a novas ilhas
e baptiza territórios recém-conquistados

i traced the contours of the divine with kisses
like someone who gives life to new islands
and baptizes newly conquered territories

epifania
epiphany
you helped me rediscover the fairies of my childhood — the ones I didn’t believe in, but liked
i liked them because i knew they weren’t real, unlike you, who has no wand but is made of truth.
it is magic that unites you.
in hard times, you, just like the fairies, know that there is at least a glimmer of light.
that is what matters.
not knowing where that glimmer of light resides does not diminish how much I love you, which is a lot. immensely.

carmesim
crimson
there is a special charm in the short days of late summer.
the sun, promising brevity, kisses our skin with a desire to stay.
the sea, in waves of foam that break at the shore, brings more chills, but we feel them less because we are better with the taste of salt.
The ochre paths widen in melancholic candor and silence lives more in the city
while bodies seek night and touch happiness.

mimos
às vezes o amor
aproveita-se das ausências
veste-se de filamentos de nós
e invade os dias que nascem iguais
para os tornar extraordinários
muitas vezes o amor
apropria-se desses fios
entrelaçados de histórias e sonhos de nós
para encantar os ritos quotidianos
cuddles
sometimes love
takes advantage of absences
dresses itself in strands of us
and invades days that begin the same
to make them extraordinary
often love
appropriates these threads
intertwined with stories and dreams of us
to enchant everyday rituals

do you also feel love
in the daily surprise of happiness,
like an unexpected gift that springs from life, the same on the outside?
do you also feel
that kind of pleasant murmur or gentle breeze
that arises from small gestures
and becomes the whole world?
