Precisamente aqui.

Não olhes para o céu, meu amor.
Olha-me nos olhos.

Há neles um mundo inteiro,
imenso e inquieto,
a chamar por ti.

E se ficares um pouco,
talvez descubras
que há lugares onde o infinito
não está longe.

Está precisamente aqui.

Precisely here

Don't look at the sky, my love.
Look into my eyes.

There is an entire world in them,
vast and restless,
calling for you.

And if you stay a little while,
perhaps you'll discover
that there are places where infinity
is not far away.

It is precisely here.

Conto até zero. Perdi.
Agora aguço-me, qual espada. A armadura pesa-me. O movimento cessa. A expressão escondida. Estátua!
Pedi-te em casamento, ramalhete na mão. O não em caracol. O segredo era não me mexer. Estátua! Não te mexeste. Conto até zero. Perdi(-te).

I count down to zero. I lost.
I knew how to count to two. But barely.
One is easier for me, sometimes so easy it makes me cold. It climbs up my spine and reminds me I’m no longer the small spoon. Nor the big one. Now I sharpen myself, like a sword. The armor weighs on me. Movement stops. Expression hidden. Statue!
I asked you to marry me, bouquet in hand. Your no curled like a snail shell. The secret was not to move. Statue! You did not move. I count down to zero. I lost (you).

There is a tree that darkens the day
its branches bursting into the veins
of those who pass by
apathic, impassive
those who walk backwards through time
those who long ago forgot the steps
on a shortcut yet to be found
surrounded by trees that, tenderly,
dawn at night
illuminating the lost steps that remained there
waiting for someone to come and take them back.

There is a chill in the air; it calls to me, autumn’s whisper, pulling me into the past once again.

Our time is of embraces and hourglasses of quicksand. Of noisy love and elusive moonlight. On the other days, my kisses fall to the ground.

Olho ao fundo e encontro a finitude do infinito.

I look deep inside and find the finitude of infinity.
I forget where I came from, unaware of where I am going.
I was and am what I will no longer be.
But I will be part of what I have always been.
I just need to not lose it.
And, in losing it, remember
The children we were, walking toward what we would become.

Em silêncio.
Encontro uma posição. Encosto-me.
Ponho o creme nocturno e aguardo que absorva.
Cubro as pernas e deixo que a temperatura me acolha.

E eu, num movimento contrário à multidão olho a vida,
Tal e qual como ela é naquele momento preciso,
Em silêncio.

In silence.
I find a position and lean back.
I put on the night cream and wait for the skin to absorb.
I cover my legs and let the temperature take hold of me.

Tomorrow morning, at eight o'clock, I will be in the water,
salting the discomfort of your absence,
shaking your presence within me.

Hours roll around in the rip tide,
I feel them as light analogies to the waves,
I forget everything, and the world reveals itself immense again.
In an opposite movement to the crowd,
I look at life, just as it is at that precise moment.
In silence.

Os sonhos riem do que queres
crescem no que precisas.
Constroem-se no frio
vivem entrelaçados nas neblinas.
Deixa o corpo à saída do Inverno
e começa a Primavera.

Dreams laugh at what you want
grow in what you need.
They are built in the cold
live intertwined in the mist.
Leave the body as winter leaves
and spring begins.

O amor fica.
O amor fica... para sempre.

When a loved one is leaving.

I sat with Jannie on her death bed today.
I wanted to be alone with her, to share heart to heart.
She has had a long wonderful life.
She is silent but looks at me and as I hold my hand on her leg it feels good.
I watch her breathe, in and out , in and out, I can see the blanket moving.
Then and incredible feeling of love touches my heart, our hearts meet and
For this moment we are one. Nothing and no one in between.
Pure love. Silent Love.

When a loved one is leaving, love stays.
Love stays.
Love stays... forever.

NOITE
Nos teus dedos
mora a melodia do silêncio
que apenas ecoa
onde os pirilampos brilham.

NIGHT
In your fingers
resides the melody of silence
that only echoes
where fireflies shine.

Nicanor sabia e afirmou,
por melhores palavras, que
a poesia deve ser como o ar
acessível a todos, para que se respire
(onde se lê ar acrescente-se água e alimento)

sabemos
há quem discorde
há quem mate
há quem se oponha
à vida

Nicanor, também eu hei-de
morrer de poesia,
se lá chegar.

Nicanor knew and stated,
with better words, that
poetry should be like air
shared, so that everyone may breath
(where one reads air add water and food)

we know
there's discordance
there's killing
there's those who oppose
to life

Nicanor, I will also
die of poetry,
if I get there.

Do teu quarto.
Refletido
No teto
Cheio de gente estridente
Ao lado
E que projetas para fora
Em fios de trama e urdume
Uns transversais e outros longitudinais

Penelopes from Almalaguês

When the night descends and the shadows spread on the white walls
Of your room. Like a film
You lie inside the noise of a loom
From Almalaguês
Of nails, wood and with pedals
Secure in ropes
With them you weave images that are sewn in your eyes
Intertwined bodies
Overlapped and embraced
Forgotten faces
Shining
Smiling at you
Imaginary lovers
In delirium
With mouths glued together
And pulsating in your body with their viscera all spewing
Flowers you crush and trample inside
And blossom on your lips
Strawberries that you regurgitate with your raging soul
Beaten
Red
And the outlines of a profile you know by heart
Reflected
In the ceiling
Full of shrill people
Beside
And that you project outward
In warp and weft threads
Some transverse and others longitudinal
That blend together like a chaotic carpet
And imaginary hands
All overlapping and without shuttle
Impossible things don't know how to weave fabrics
Nor colors
Nor patterns
They're just a maddening rhythm that you beat with your feet
Inside
And many bars of waiting
Like a weaver under a spell
Penelope cursed
Sitting on a bench.
